Food Pantry

Centerville UMC officially opened a family choice food pantry on Thursday, May 7, 2015. In addition to serving Food4Tots and Food4Summer families through Centerville City Schools, First Dawn Food Pantry now serves neighbors in zip-codes 45458, 45459, 45342, 45440, 45429, 45305, 45449 and 45439. All three programs are staffed and managed by unpaid servants. In addition to food donations, First Dawn Food Pantry is supplemented by The Dayton Food Bank with food purchased at far below market cost.

Offering a choice in our pantry is exactly what it sounds like. Our neighbors participate in choosing for themselves which foods they will take home. The pantry operates like a grocery store with a full array of available goods displayed and neighbors are permitted to browse and “shop” for what they want and need. The First Dawn Food Pantry is located in the church building on the lower level, adjacent to Cora Campbell Hall. The pantry has undergone a facelift with shelves and aisles constructed to provide a physical shopping experience, allowing clients to shop with dignity. Join in the excitement of seeing how God continues to use Centerville UMC.
