Kids Community is our weekly environment created for infant through 5th grade at Centerville UMC. We know things are busy at this stage of life and your children are learning and growing in amazing ways. We are ready for them!
The church wants to partner with parents to connect God’s love and His forgiveness to the heart of the next generation. We not only want to share the Gospel message with children but to help train them to step outside the walls of the buildings and into the lives of the people they encounter daily. We want them to learn to be the church.
Our preschool Kids Community is for infant through preschool children. We believe in an active, hands-on approach to learning with preschool children. So, you can plan on a lot of jumping, singing, dancing, and laughter in every experience.
Your child will learn:
God MADE me.
God LOVES me.
Jesus wants to be my FRIEND forever.
Our elementary Kids Community is offered for kindergarten – 5th grade. We believe the Bible should never be boring, worship can be really loud, and good leaders always care. Before kids head off to middle school, we want to make sure these three things stick:
I need to make the wise choice.
I can trust God no matter what.
I should treat others the way I want to be treated.
The focus in elementary Kids Community is our small group environment. We want kids to see how God’s Word fits in to their lives, to learn how to talk to him, and to build friendships that will last.
When is Kids Community available?
Kids Community is available during the 9:30 am and 11:00 am services weekly.
I’m a first-time guest. What do I do and where do I go?
Glad you asked! Head to our main welcome desk and one of our friendly hosts will direct you to the Kids Community welcome area downstairs for easy check-in. There you will check your child into our computerized database to help ensure his/her security. Once your child receives his/her security badge, we will walk you and your child to their classroom.
What Curriculum do you use?
Kids Community is built on the Orange Strategy… Orange combines two influences in a child’s life for the greatest impact: the LIGHT OF THE CHURCH (yellow) with the HEART OF THE FAMILY (red) makes ORANGE. Families and churches are each working hard to build faith in kids, but imagine the potential results when the two environments synchronize, maximizing their individual efforts.
How can I connect and know what my kids are learning about?
We have many ways parents can connect! We want to help every parent do something each week to help move their child toward a deeper faith. Some of the most important things you do for your child don’t happen in a single day. You make small deposits in their life week after week – over time. That’s why we like to resource you…
- Follow our Kids Community Facebook Page
- Check out the materials in our Parent Resource Center in the Kids Community hall
- Download the Parent Cue App
- Utilize the Parent Cue Cards: Each month, you will receive a special Parent Cue Card for the entire family to enjoy at home. It helps kids learn more about weekly lessons.
- Encourage Kids to Use God Time Sheets: Each week, kids will receive a God Time Sheet that gives your child 4 days of devotionals that extend the message all week.
I’d like to serve in Kids Community. How do I get started?
Our Kids Community staff and servant team can’t wait to partner with you! All of our servants are background-checked and trained to guarantee your child the best experience possible. Parents are welcome to step up in faith to help disciple our littlest ones for Christ. To get involved, email Kristen@4cumc.org.
Maybe they will be answered in our Kids Ministry Guidebook that includes all of our policies and procedures we follow in our ministry. To view this resource, click here.
