UNVEILED YOUTH

OUR MISSION:We are a group of friends brought together with love through faith to share with others the freedom found in Christ.

Our inspiration for our mission statement comes from 2 Corinthians 3:17-18:

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”

We are adamant about creating a space that encourages the students to discover their freedom in Christ. A freedom that allows them to be exactly who God created them to be. There is no “fitting in” with our group, it is simply, come as you are. Here at UNVEILED we strive to create an environment that encourages the students to pursue a life of disciple-making. Rather than add another extracurricular activity to their increasingly busy schedules, we want to meet the students where they are, by encouraging a shift in thought. UNVEILED strives to bring Christ into every phase of the student’s life. The relationship with Christ invades their lives and becomes an extension of who they are.

We attempt to do this in three different ways:

    Bible Study/Conversation
    Service Projects
    Community

We focus on bringing in different studies that push the students to think critically about their faith and the impact it has on their everyday life. We often break down into small groups to further encourage open, authentic dialogue about life issues. Intentional conversation about faith allows our students to ask the “big questions” and not feel embarrassed or singled out.

We look for service projects that will stretch our students beyond their normal comfort zones. By putting our students into unfamiliar territory, they are provided opportunities to experience God’s love for themselves and other people. The group also goes on a summer mission trip that challenges the students both spiritually and physically.

Every UNVEILED meeting starts off with a community meal provided by different families in the church. It is a time to come together and enjoy the company of the group. We also do a variety of fun activities in the community as well as game nights and cookouts!

We always want to encourage the students to take ownership of their faith and help them understand what it looks like to prioritize their faith in all aspects of their life. Not just as church. UNVEILED welcomes all high school students!

JUNIOR HIGH

Here at CUMC we currently have an opportunity for Junior High students to grow in their faith as well. It is a new group that is just gearing up and will soon be hitting their full potential!

We strive to create a safe place for these students to discover who they are and what this faith stuff really means. Junior High is an important phase in a student’s life. It is often here that they form friendships that last for years and make decisions that will consume their time for years to come. We want to help them process those decisions while bringing in elements of their faith to encourage and support them. They are learning what it means to have responsibility and how to be accountable.

We carry the same philosophy with our UNVEILED Youth in that we want to help them bring their faith to aspects of their lives. Jesus isn’t strictly encountered at church, but everywhere in their life.
